The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) faced significant renovation costs at its seven buildings in Frankfort. In consideration of this, the leadership at AOC decided to consolidate buildings and reprogram space for its smaller workforce.
STW was hired to perform engineering services for the $5,827,000 new central office. The new space infused a combination of open and closed office interiors, a warehouse and training area, and a new technology data center to support the court systems throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. HVAC for the data center was provided via a cold aisle containment system with an emergency generator and network UPS system. HVAC for the data center consisted of three Liebert-style units providing N+1 redundancy.
The electrical system consisted of new LED and energy-efficient fluorescent lighting technologies including lighting control systems to provide optimum energy savings for the Owner. Extensive data system design was provided for the data center and supporting communications closets.
