In response to continued growth in Madison County, the new Station #2 opened in December of 2016. The 24/7 facility went from providing only three emergency response vehicles to six ambulances and/or disaster trailers. The building also includes eight bedrooms, offices, training and meeting areas, a kitchen with cafeteria space, storage, and a patio.
The HVAC system is an air-source Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat recovery system with energy recovery outside air unit and kitchen exhaust system. Radiant heat and general exhaust systems are provided in the apparatus bays for occupant comfort and CO2 limitation.
The lighting systems are all energy-efficient LED with automatic lighting controls. Electrical distribution includes an emergency generator to provide full power to the building. CCTV Cameras and card access control are provided for building security.
