The Oldham County Goshen Branch Library was a new, 17,300 SF facility that was constructed in result of the growing surrounding community. This $10,930,000 project featured a larger book collection, more technology, events, and more.
The HVAC design approach was to provide complete HVAC systems to support the new building. All HVAC systems are compliant with IECC–2012, IMC-2015, and the 2018 Kentucky Building Code. The HVAC system utilizes geothermal heating and cooling via approximately 30 wells located under the central zone of the building parking lot. Water from the geothermal system is delivered to water source heat pumps serving each zone of the building. A kitchen ventilation system with integrated fire suppression was designed to provide adequate exhaust and makeup air volumes as required for the demonstration kitchen area.
The electrical design approach was to provide complete systems (lighting, power, low voltage, etc) to support the new building. New LED lighting was provided throughout the new building. Two independent data/voice networks were provided in the new building. One MDF and associated infrastructure were provided for the Oldham County Public Library, and the second MDF and associated infrastructure were provided for the tenant space. New cabling for data/voice and wireless access points were provided for the public spaces, offices, meeting rooms, exterior, etc. as required.
