A 2017 AIA Honor Award Winner, this showcase blended a beautiful restoration of a 1904 Carnegie library with a contemporary structure complimentary to modern library uses. This 6,000 sq. ft. renovation and 14,000 square foot expansion incorporates flexible space for a variety of library programming.
This project includes the addition of 14,000 sq. ft. of library and community space to an existing 6,000 sq. ft. historical building located in downtown Paris, Kentucky. The MEP systems incorporate a classical geothermal 400’-foot vertical bore field. Depths were extended to 400 feet deep to accommodate urban property line restrictions. Geothermal was chosen as the HVAC system so as to hide mechanical equipment and accommodate historic site lines and architectural features.
