Shrout Tate Wilson (STW) Engineers provided mechanical, plumbing and electrical design for the renovation of an existing 1 story warehouse. The original building was transformed into FCPS’ central supply warehouse with supporting offices, administrative areas and the district’s main IT/data center.
This project includes site lighting, variable refrigerant HVAC system, all-electric power and modifications to a full fire suppression system. The data center was designed with a cold aisle containment system for efficiently cooling the district’s servers.
The HVAC design includes a variable refrigerant system for the office areas. The fresh air for the office areas come from a dedicated energy recovery unit with a single wheel. The warehouse space is heated with indirect gas-fired make-up air units. The warehouse is ventilated with 3 supply and 3 exhaust fans that are interlocked to the building DDC. Industrial ceiling fans were installed for air movement. The archive storage rooms are heated and cooled with precision air units to control humidity and ensure an environment that is climate-controlled for the paper documents.
