The Asbury University Collaborative Learning Center (CLC) was a new 55,000 SF laboratory, classroom, and office building located in Wilmore Kentucky.

HVAC systems consisted of four pipe fan coils and Chilled Water/Hot Water VAV Air Handling Units fed by variable speed base mounted pumps. Exhaust and make-up air for Laboratory spaces were precisely controlled to maintain a constant Air Change Per Hour and differential room pressure. This is accomplished through integration of the Building Automation System with Strobic exhaust fans, Phoenix exhaust and supply valves, and Make-Up Air Unit controls. Plumbing systems included acid waste piping, a new vacuum pump and piping, a new compressed air system, a new RO system, domestic hot and cold water distribution, and emergency shower/eyewash’s with thermostatic mixing valves.

The electrical power systems consisted of a new 277/480V 3 phase electrical service with distributed 120/208V transformers for normal power and a standby natural gas fired generator for emergency power to life safety loads and owner selected equipment. The lighting system was composed of LED luminaires and lighting controls that adhere to ASHRAE 90.1 2010 energy code standards. Laboratory lighting is accomplished with direct/indirect pendant hung luminaires to illuminate to laboratory standards.  The building fire alarm system is a digital addressable, voice evacuation type system and networked into the campus wide monitoring system.
