The project is the first expansion for the Filson Historical Society on its current site located within ‘Old Louisville,’ a historical neighborhood first developed between 1883-1887 in conjunction with the Southern Exposition. Phase I involved construction of the Owsley Brown II History Center – a new building addition to the campus.
The new building doubles its archival storage capacity and provides a new lecture hall, as well as new flexible-use event spaces that incorporate changing exhibits.
